Which banks offer custody and a card?

Banks in this set hold your coins and give you a card, which is what most people mean when they ask for a bank account with crypto in it. Sygnum, AMINA Bank and Swissquote lead at 15 of 16, Xapo Bank, Wirex and Revolut follow with cards that pay Bitcoin cashback or spend from a crypto balance, and the rest are app-banks where a partner holds the coins and the card is an ordinary debit card: bunq (Kraken), N26 (Bitpanda), RAKBank (Bitpanda), Liv (Zodia Custody), Wio Bank and ruya (Fuze), plus LHV, whose coins cannot leave the bank. Singapore Gulf Bank and Bank Frick pass with a partial card score, SGB because its pages list no card and Bank Frick because its Debit Mastercard appears only in the fee schedule. Bitcoin Suisse, Anchorage Digital, BCB Group, Zand Bank, SG-FORGE, DBS, Standard Chartered and Custodia Bank fail the card test because they issue no card, PostFinance, Santander Openbank and the Swiss cantonal banks issue ordinary debit cards and still fail it, as do BBVA, Raiffeisen NÖ-Wien and Deutsche Bank, which say outright that nothing they issue spends crypto, and Monerium, ClearBank, Cross River Bank, Mercury and Rebind fail custody because they hold no crypto for clients.

Questions people ask

Which bank holds my crypto and lets me pay with a card from the same app?

Revolut is the simplest: its crypto card, free as a virtual card, spends directly from a chosen crypto balance and works with Apple Pay and Google Pay, with the coins held under its UK and EEA crypto licences. Swissquote holds crypto off its balance sheet and its debit Mastercard can settle a purchase by selling Bitcoin, Ethereum or XRP. Xapo Bank holds Bitcoin 1:1 with MPC key sharding and pays up to 1% cashback in Bitcoin on a card with no FX markup. Sygnum and AMINA Bank do the same for qualified and professional clients with Viseca credit cards.

Do the UAE and EU app-banks on this list hold the coins themselves?

No, and that is why they score partial on custody. bunq's trading and custody run through Kraken, N26's coins sit in a Bitpanda GmbH cold wallet in Austria and the customer never sees the private keys, RAKBank's custody is with Bitpanda at no charge, Liv's coins are held by Zodia Custody, and Wio Bank and ruya hold Bitcoin through Fuze. Their cards are ordinary Mastercard or Visa debit cards that spend the fiat balance, and none of the six lets you withdraw coins to your own wallet, which matters if the bank ever drops the service: RAKBank's terms say you must liquidate, and bunq sells any crypto left when an account is terminated.
