Health tagWatch Full UK banking licence only arrived March 2026, after a four-year delay driven by regulator concerns about controls. · checked 26 August 2026
P2P toleranceMixed Deep crypto integration, yet freezes are reported when personal accounts show high-frequency inbound transfers. New fraud controls reject payments where the sender's name doesn't match exchange KYC, which blocks most P2P inbound by design. Italy's competition authority fined Revolut EUR 5 million in April 2026 for blocking accounts without notice, a chance to respond or a clear route to recourse, so expect little warning if a freeze hits. · community-reported, separate from the score

What Revolut allows and blocks

Allowed

  • Buying, selling and holding crypto inside the app, provided by Revolut Ltd in the UK (FCA cryptoasset registration, FRN 900562) and by Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd in the EEA (CySEC MiCA licence CASP001/25)
  • Sending crypto to external wallets on supported networks, with limits shown in-app, and receiving crypto from external addresses at no Revolut fee
  • Crypto deposits from major exchanges including Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, Bitstamp and eToro
  • Converting USD to USDC at a guaranteed 1:1 rate with no spread, and moving the stablecoin across major chains
  • Staking on 16 tokens including ETH, SOL, ADA, DOT, ATOM and ALGO, with an advertised rate of up to 22% APY
  • A crypto card, free as a virtual card, that spends directly from a chosen crypto balance and works with Apple Pay and Google Pay
  • Business accounts can buy, hold and sell crypto in the Revolut Business app in the company's name
  • Personal accounts for residents of the UK, all 30 EEA countries, Switzerland, Australia, Brazil, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore and the US

Blocked or restricted

  • Fiat transfers to some cryptocurrency exchanges: Revolut lists 'some cryptocurrency exchanges' among unsupported recipients on its declined-transfer help page
  • Crypto withdrawals to addresses Revolut links to an unsupported exchange, which stay blocked even if earlier withdrawals to that address went through
  • Crypto deposits from Bitfinex, Bittrex and Roqqu, and deposits from any exchange that fails Revolut's compliance data checks
  • Business accounts for crypto exchanges, brokers, dealers, on and off ramp providers, crypto ATMs, ICO issuers, mining, trading and investment firms, crypto asset managers and unregulated custodial wallets
  • Business accounts cannot send or receive crypto at all, and may not take in funds that came from dealing or trading in crypto
  • USDT in the EEA and Switzerland: buying stopped on 6 July 2026 and support ended on 31 August 2026, with leftover balances converted to home currency
  • No FSCS, no Deposit Guarantee Scheme and no Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund cover for crypto balances
  • On account closure Revolut sells all crypto holdings at the rate of the day rather than returning coins

The Fine Print

  1. No compensation scheme: crypto sits outside the Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund and every other protection scheme.
  2. Forced sale on exit: miss their deadline and they liquidate everything for you, and you waive any say over method, timing or venue.
  3. Mid-sale limbo: during treasury sweeps they hold title to crypto you sold, and you have no rights over it until settlement.
  4. AI trading is on you: any order an AI tool fires through their API with your keys counts as authorized by you, hallucinations included.
  5. The good clause: under MiCA they stay liable for custodied crypto lost through their fault, capped at market value at time of loss.

Regulatory history

2025Bank of Lithuania fined Revolut Bank UAB a record 3.5 million euros on 8 April 2025 for shortcomings in monitoring business relationships and transactions under money laundering prevention rules. source
2025CySEC authorised Revolut Digital Assets (Europe) Ltd as a MiCA crypto-asset service provider, licence CASP001/25, on 20 October 2025, with custody, trading platform, exchange and transfer services passported to 29 EU and EEA states. source
2026The PRA lifted the restrictions on Revolut Bank UK Ltd's banking licence on 11 March 2026, ending a mobilisation phase that began with the restricted licence of July 2024. UK deposits gained FSCS cover; crypto sits outside the bank. source
2026Italy's competition authority AGCM fined Revolut EUR 11.5 million on 2 April 2026 for unfair commercial practices. EUR 5 million of that was for aggressive account blocking, imposed without notice, a chance to respond or proper assistance, and for poor disclosure of how freezes are handled. Revolut said it would appeal. source

Questions about Revolut

Does Revolut let me send money to Kraken?

Usually, but not by guarantee. Revolut accepts crypto deposits from Kraken, Coinbase, Binance and Bitstamp, and a third-party guide updated in July 2026 reports fiat payments to regulated exchanges clearing after a scam warning screen. Revolut's own help page still lists some cryptocurrency exchanges among recipients it will not pay, and it does not name which ones.

Can I withdraw crypto from Revolut to my own wallet?

Yes, for supported coins on supported networks, and only in eligible locations or on eligible plans. The service fee is 1 pound for XRP, XLM, DOT, SOL, AVAX, XTZ, ALGO and ADA and 3 pounds for other coins, plus the network fee quoted in-app. Withdrawals to an address Revolut links to an unsupported exchange are blocked for good, and a sent transaction cannot be reversed.

Is my crypto at Revolut protected by FSCS?

No. The UK crypto terms say you are not protected by the FSCS when using crypto services, and the EEA terms exclude the Deposit Guarantee Scheme and the Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund. Only cash deposits at Revolut Bank UK Ltd, fully licensed since March 2026, carry FSCS cover. If your account is closed, Revolut sells your crypto rather than sending it back.

Does Revolut Business accept crypto companies?

Not if you are an exchange, broker, dealer, on or off ramp, crypto ATM operator, ICO issuer, miner, trading firm or crypto asset manager. Revolut does accept NFT platforms, regulated and non-custodial wallet providers, blockchain developers and companies that simply take crypto as payment. Even accepted businesses cannot send or receive crypto from the business account or bring in money earned by trading crypto.
