Which banks in the UK offer Web3 business accounts?

This filter keeps the providers that will open an account for a Web3 or crypto company. Revolut fails it: its business accounts can buy and hold crypto in the company's name, but exchanges, brokers, on and off ramp providers, mining firms and custodial wallets are all excluded, and no business account there can send or receive crypto at all. Of the six that pass, three want regulated or institutional clients: ClearBank banks Kraken, Coinbase and Gemini but takes no unregulated businesses, BCB Group takes exchanges, brokers, funds and fintechs, and Standard Chartered scores a partial because its banking and settlement is for institutional and fintech partners. Xapo Bank takes businesses, trusts and exchanges, though institutional accounts cannot pay suppliers or run payroll, Wirex Business is aimed at Web3 companies and fintechs, and LHV Bank Ltd in the UK banks crypto and virtual asset service providers with Faster Payments and SEPA Instant.

Questions people ask

Which UK provider gives a crypto business a sort code and Faster Payments?

LHV Bank Ltd offers GBP Faster Payments and SEPA Instant with virtual IBANs to fintech and crypto clients. ClearBank gives regulated crypto firms GBP accounts with Faster Payments and CHAPS, and BCB Group runs GBP over Faster Payments, CHAPS and SWIFT alongside more than 30 other currencies. Wirex Business is the small-company option, and Xapo Bank's accounts run GBP over Faster Payments too, with the catch that every transfer must match the entity's own name.

Can my Web3 company hold crypto in its account, not just fiat?

Xapo Bank holds Bitcoin for businesses, trusts and exchanges, with custody through its GFSC-regulated VASP, and Bitcoin is the only digital currency it supports. Wirex Business is for Web3 companies, fintechs and crypto businesses, but what those accounts hold is not spelled out in our data, so ask before you count on on-chain access. ClearBank does not hold crypto for anyone, clients keep their own wallets, and LHV's UK arm banks crypto firms in fiat while coins bought at LHV cannot leave the bank.
