A stablecoin off-ramp means you can send USDC or USDT in and take pounds or euros out. LHV is the one bank on the UK list that fails this test: it offers only 'other crypto assets' under MiCA, not e-money tokens, so no stablecoin can enter the bank at all. For a UK individual the working options are Wirex, which converts stablecoin top-ups 1:1 into a USD or EUR balance and pays out by Faster Payments, Revolut, which converts USD to USDC at 1:1 with no spread, and Xapo Bank, which takes USDC and USDT and converts them to USD on arrival, though UK residents cannot make USD transactions there. BCB Group, Standard Chartered and ClearBank all serve institutions: BCB settles USDC into SEPA or Faster Payments for business clients, Standard Chartered's partial score comes from a Hong Kong dollar stablecoin limited to institutions and corporates, and ClearBank's partial comes from USDC and EURC minting and redemption for onboarded regulated firms.
| Bank | Score | Type | Health | P2P | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xapo Bank | 14/16 | Crypto-native | Solid | Unknown | Yes. Bitcoin and stablecoins are the core product, though the bank publishes no policy on transfers to exchanges. |
| Wirex | 14/16 | Neobank | Unknown | Strict | Yes. Crypto moves freely in and out, but the card cannot buy crypto elsewhere and the old app lost its crypto features in the EEA on 30 June 2026. |
| Revolut | 13/16 | Neobank | Watch | Mixed | Yes for individuals, with the deepest crypto stack of any app-bank. No for crypto businesses. |
| BCB Group | 10/16 | Business banking | Watch | none | Yes for crypto businesses and institutions, no for individuals. BCB is a payments and settlement provider, not a bank. |
| Standard Chartered | 8/16 | Traditional | Watch | none | Yes for institutions, through spot trading, custody and stablecoins. Retail customers get little beyond the Mox app in Hong Kong. |
| ClearBank | 7/16 | Business banking | Solid | none | Yes for regulated crypto businesses, no for individuals. |

Wirex takes USDT deposits and converts stablecoin top-ups into a USD or EUR balance with no spread, which you can withdraw by Faster Payments to an account in your own name. Xapo Bank also accepts USDT on Ethereum or Tron, converted to USD, but UK residents cannot make USD transactions there, so check that route before sending. Revolut's guaranteed 1:1 conversion is for USDC, and it pulled USDT from the EEA and Switzerland on 31 August 2026.
BCB Group converts fiat to crypto and back, with USDC named, and settles into SEPA or Faster Payments, but takes no individual clients. ClearBank offers USDC and EURC minting and redemption at par through Circle Mint, for onboarded regulated institutions in Europe. Standard Chartered's stablecoin activity is the HKDAP stablecoin for institutional and corporate clients in Hong Kong, which is why it scores a partial here.
